Introduction
The Alberta Emergency Management Agency (AEMA) under the Government Emergency Management Regulation is responsible for developing, implementing, managing, and maintaining Alberta’s emergency management system.
AEMA maintains a quality assurance program for incident management training in Alberta, which includes:
- establishing and upholding standards, policies, and pre-requisites for prospective incident management instructors and individuals
- designing, developing, and delivering curricula and programming for local authorities to help them prepare for emergencies and disasters
- overseeing the certification and course administration practices of incident management training practitioners
- supporting the application of ICS Canada’s doctrine and curriculum and training standards
