Foothills Medical Centre

Enhancing energy efficiency with a power plant upgrade and new cogeneration capacity for sustainable care.

Overview

The Foothills Medical Centre (FMC) is undergoing a power plant expansion to enhance the site's heating reliability.

This upgrade will also boost the facility's energy efficiency through cogeneration – a process that simultaneously produces electricity and heat. By integrating a new combustion turbine generator, FMC will not only improve its power generation capabilities but also decrease greenhouse gas emissions.

Project information

This project holds 2 key components:

  • expanding the existing power plant with extra boiler capacity (and phasing out the temporary boiler)
  • installing the turbine generator to increase cogeneration capacity

Together, these improvements will ensure a more sustainable and dependable energy supply for FMC.
