Residents outside Alberta
To be eligible to apply for adoption in Alberta, you must be a resident of Alberta at the time of application, approval and placement.
In order for the children to maintain some stability with regard to family contact, friends, schools, and professional assistance, our policy is to place children from Alberta with families in Alberta.
Placement outside Alberta will only be considered if recruiting and locating a suitable adoptive placement in Alberta is not successful, and if it is in the child’s best interests to explore adoption outside Alberta.
