Victim serving organizations

We partner with police-based and specialized victim serving organizations to support victims of crime.

Overview

Call 911 if you are in danger.

Victim serving organizations support victims of crime in partnership with the RCMP, municipal and Indigenous police services, the Crown, and community-based partners. Programs that provide services and supports to victims of crime are funded through the Public Safety and Emergency Services Victims of Crime and Public Safety Fund.

Victim serving organizations can provide victims of crime with information, support and referrals, including:

  • providing information on the criminal justice system and the rights of victims
  • providing information on the Victims Assistance Program
  • supporting victims to mitigate the immediate impact of a crime
  • acting as a link between victims and criminal justice system partners
  • referrals to community resources
  • assisting in criminal justice navigation including court orientation and court accompaniment
