Training and employment services – Workplace Training Program

This program provides employer-delivered, work-site training and paid work experience opportunities.

Overview

Workplace Training Program offers eligible Albertans work-site training and paid work experience through employer-delivered training.

Participating employers agree to provide on-the-job training and/or provide work experience, with the expectation that participants maintain employment after completing the program.

The Government of Alberta is working in partnership with the Government of Canada to provide employment support programs and services.

Eligibility

Eligible participants are unemployed adults in Alberta, who are permanent residents or Canadian citizens, and require on-the-job training or work experience to obtain and maintain employment.

How to apply

If you are interested in participating in the Workplace Training Program:

Workplace training programs are developed by providers. That means each program may offer different timeframes, course content and class sizes.

Workplace training is provided at no-cost to eligible participants and provide paid work experience that provides you with the opportunity to develop workplace and occupation-related skills to gain employment

Employers

Employers interested in participating in the Workplace Training program are selected by a provider based on their ability to:

  • provide or facilitate relevant on-the-job training or paid work experience for participants
  • provide ongoing employment after the workplace training placement is complete
