Consultation timelines pause for the holidays
In light of the holiday season, the Government of Alberta acknowledges that there will be some First Nation, Metis Settlement and Credibly Asserted Métis Communities’ office closures and, therefore, will pause consultation activities from December 23, 2024 to January 3, 2025, inclusive.
This time period will not be used or included when calculating timelines or deadlines for consultation. This includes the time a First Nation, Metis Settlement, or Credibly Asserted Métis Community has to:
- respond to notification of a project, or
- review and respond to a project follow-up(s), or
- review a Record of Consultation Log
Note: For proposed projects where all procedural aspects of consultation were completed prior to a consultation pause, proponents may proceed with submitting records to the ACO for an adequacy review. The ACO will not be issuing consultation adequacy decisions during the consultation timeline pause period.
