Canada Post service disruption

The Government of Alberta has a mail services contingency plan to ensure critical government mail continues to be delivered during the Canada Post strike action.

A plan is in place to ensure benefit cheques are distributed, including for Assured Income for Severely Handicapped (AISH), Income Support, Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD), Office of Public Guardian and Trustee (OPGT), and Alberta Seniors Benefit (ASB).

Vendors may call the temporary Vendor Cheque Line at 587-545-6782 (dial 310-0000 first if outside of Edmonton).

To avoid any future payment delays, Albertans receiving benefits via cheque are encouraged to contact AISH or Income Support staff, or the Alberta Supports Contact Centre, to arrange for direct deposit.

Overview

The monthly payment for Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH) and Income Support (IS) occurs 4 business days before the first of the month.
