Overview

We are gathering feedback to help inform the completion of the Upper Smoky Sub-regional Plan, including regulatory details and associated amendments to the South Saskatchewan Regional Plan.

Alberta’s government has developed a draft sub-regional plan, along with associated guidelines and regulations, based on discussions with residents, Indigenous communities, local governments, industry and others.

The draft plan identifies policy direction and requirements for activities within the sub-region. Incorporating the plan and regulatory details under an existing regional plan support their full implementation.

Sub-regional plans help provide opportunities for Albertans to work and play, improve the overall landscape, and enable Indigenous traditional uses.
