Training and workshops offered by the Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee (OPGT).

  • Decision-Making Capacity Assessment Training

    The 3-day capacity assessment course is mandatory to be a designated capacity assessor. Designated capacity assessors are able to complete decision-making capacity assessments under the Adult Guardianship and Trusteeship Act.

    The course takes place in person on September 25, 26 and 27, 2024.

    This training is only available to:

    • registered social workers
    • registered occupational therapists
    • registered nurses/nurse practitioners
    • registered psychiatric nurses

    Additional course details:

    • Space is limited to 45 participants. 
    • Applications are screened according to geographic location and area needs. 
    • There is no cost for the course.

    Registration

    Applications will be accepted from August 15 – September 6, 2024.

  • Capacity Assessment Workshop for registered psychologists

    This 2-day workshop for registered psychologists interested in enhancing their assessment skills discusses the components required to complete decision-making capacity assessments under the Adult Guardianship and Trusteeship Act and the Personal Directives Act.

    This workshop is open to registered psychologists only and takes place online through Microsoft Teams on September 19 and 20, 2024.

    There is no cost to attend but registration is required.

    Registration

    Registration is open until September 13, 2024, or until the course is full. Registration is limited to 45 participants.
