Training and workshops offered by the Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee (OPGT).

Decision-Making Capacity Assessment Training

The 3-day capacity assessment course is mandatory in order to be designated a capacity assessor by the Minister of Seniors, Community and Social Services. Participants will become proficient at completing decision-making capacity assessments in accordance with the Adult Guardianship and Trusteeship Act.

This training is only available to:

• registered social workers
• registered occupational therapists
• registered nurses/nurse practitioners
• registered psychiatric nurses

Additional course details:

• Space is limited to 45 participants.
• Applications are screened according to geographic location and area needs.
• There is no cost for the course.

To apply, complete the Capacity Assessment Training Application form and email it to scss.opgt-capassmnt@gov.ab.ca.
