Introduction
Under the Government Emergency Management Regulation, the Alberta Emergency Management Agency (AEMA) is required to assist local authorities with preparing, implementing, and maintaining their emergency plans.
AEMA develops and delivers a variety of in-class and online incident management training to build resilience within and between communities across Alberta, including:
- Local authority courses that build individual knowledge about incident management and the Emergency Management Act
- Incident Command System (ICS) courses that develop individual skills to support Alberta’s prescribed command, control, and coordination system for managing incidents
- Collective training that reinforces collective knowledge, skills, and ability through simulated incident response and recovery exercises
Feedback
AEMA is also responsible for the quality assurance of incident management training standards in Alberta, and welcomes constructive feedback with the goal of strengthening AEMA’s incident management training program.
