Introduction
We are modernizing the way we support the non-profit sector. By matching donations and issuing tax receipts, we are collaborating with Albertans to increase funding to causes that matter most to them, and making it cheaper and easier to give.
We are also working with sector leaders who offer investment opportunities that create social or environmental impact as well as financial returns – also known as social finance. These powerful investments provide financing to help organizations address the challenges they face when seeking to prototype, kick-start, or grow their ideas.
Contribute
Albertans are able to support our non-profit organizations through a number of channels, including through the following programs:
Crowdfunding Alberta Platform
The Crowdfunding Alberta platform is a crowdfunding platform for Alberta non-profit organizations to share their bold ideas and seek community support.
Organizations can receive up to $15,000 per year in fast and flexible top-up funding toward eligible campaigns from the Government of Alberta.
UCeed Social Impact Fund
Activated by Innovate Calgary, the University of Calgary’s knowledge transfer and business incubator, UCeed Social Impact Fund is a pre-seed investment fund using loans and equity investments to accelerate transformational impact in our communities.
The UCeed Social Impact Fund boosts socially purposed organizations using enterprising models to reach mission-critical milestones. These may include their next round of financing or attraction of management and resources to build value in the companies, and community.
As an early-stage investment fund, UCeed uses outcome-based investment with funding to accomplish defined milestones. UCeed Social Impact Fund is supported by a generous $2.5 million donation from the United Way of Calgary and Area, as well as a $2 million investment by the Government of Alberta over the next 4 years.
