Overview
Alberta's government has established a Public Engagement Panel to gather Albertan’s thoughts, suggestions and concerns about a potential Alberta Pension Plan (APP) over the next several months.
The independent panel will provide Albertans with information and opportunities to provide their thoughts and vision for what an APP would look like and how it would best benefit Albertans.
To support this work, an independent report on an APP was released in September 2023 that outlines the costs, benefits and implications of setting up a provincial pension plan and withdrawing from the Canada Pension Plan.
The first phase of public engagement with the Alberta Pension Plan Engagement Panel is complete and the panel will now analyze what it has heard from Albertans.
By sharing your thoughts and ideas with the panel, you helped them understand if a provincial pension plan might work for you, your families and businesses.
