Alberta government prepaid cards

The Government of Alberta prepaid cards for certain programs will expire January 31, 2025.

Overview

Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) prepaid cards will be discontinued as of January 31, 2025; they were an option to receive funds from certain Government of Alberta programs. As a reminder, prepaid cards are not linked to a bank account and are not credit cards. Prepaid cards are directly loaded with your funds and can be used for payments and purchases in accordance with the terms and conditions applicable to your program. Card holders are encouraged to use the funds prior to the discontinuation of the cards.

Checking your balance

Call CIBC at 1-800-482-8347 to retrieve your card balance before January 31, 2025. After card closure, please reach out to your respective program areas as detailed by the terms and conditions of the card.

Use cards before January 31

You can use the funds on your prepaid card by making purchases, payments, merchant returns, and/or ATM withdrawals. Please refer to the specific terms and conditions associated with your prepaid card for more details.
