Alberta Emergency Management Agency field officers

Learn about the Alberta Emergency Management Agency’s Regional and First Nations Field Officers.

Overview

Under the Government Emergency Management Regulation, the Alberta Emergency Management Agency (AEMA) is required to assist local authorities with preparing, implementing and maintaining their emergency plans.

AEMA assigns Regional and First Nations Field Officers to liaise between Albertan communities at the local level and the province before, during and after emergencies and disasters.

AEMA Regional and First Nations Field Officers are available to assist by:

  • providing guidance and feedback on emergency plans, tabletop and functional exercises, and relevant grant funding applications
  • delivering AEMA-approved incident management training
  • supporting local authority compliance with the Local Authority Emergency Management Regulation
  • deploying to incidents across Alberta and contributing subject matter expertise to affected local authorities
  • initiating requests for provincial assistance during an emergency or disaster response
