Description: Severe thunderstorm warning in effect
At 6:21 p.m. MDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing strong wind gusts, nickel to ping pong ball size hail and heavy rain. The northern storm has weakened, and the southern storm has strengthened. The southern storm is located about 10 km west of Benchlands, and moving much slower, 10 km/h to the east.
Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
