Water Treatment Program

Maintaining treatment and testing methods for water systems in government-owned buildings.

Overview

The purpose of the Water Treatment Program is to prevent deterioration of the water systems in Alberta government buildings that are managed by Alberta Infrastructure, Property Management or firms contracted to manage facilities on Alberta government’s behalf.

The program is closely monitored by a committee of trained and experienced staff appointed as water treatment coordinators, headed up by Infrastructure’s Water Treatment Specialist and the Director of the Water Treatment Program.

Water Treatment service providers also inspect and provide advice on testing and treatment of the systems.

The Water Treatment Program Manual is an information source for building managers and operating personnel on the various types of systems operating within these facilities.

It’s also a reference guide that details:

  • water system descriptions
  • operation and maintenance
  • water treatment requirements
  • control tests
  • chemicals and reagents
  • environmental guidelines
