Training, fatigue management and hours of service

Information for commercial carriers on provincial and federal hours of service laws, fatigue management program development and training.

Introduction

The Carrier & Vehicle Safety is responsible for ensuring the safe performance of commercial truck and bus carriers under Alberta's National Safety Code Program, which includes standards that govern limiting a driver's hours of service to help reduce the severity and frequency of fatigue-related collisions involving commercial vehicles and drivers.

Our services

Carriers must follow provincial and federal laws about hours of service and should create their own fatigue management programs.

Planning for fatigue helps drivers better handle potential safety hazards and reduces the risk of collision.

The reference guide covers hours-of-service requirements to commercial vehicle registered owners and drivers.
