Grade 3 Student Learning Assessments (SLAs) helped gauge student learning and the education system’s effectiveness. They have recently been discontinued.

Student Learning Assessments (SLAs) have been permanently discontinued and are no longer available for use.

Overview

Student Learning Assessments (SLAs) were digital tests administered at the beginning of the school year in Grade 3 for language and mathematics.

SLAs contained 4 components:

  • Literacy – Digital questions
  • Literacy – Performance task
  • Numeracy – Digital questions
  • Numeracy – Performance task

The purpose of the SLAs was to:

  • improve student learning
  • help parents and teachers identify student strengths and areas for growth
