Overview
Driver training school licences must be renewed every 12 months. The school licence contact will receive a renewal notice 3 months prior to the date the driver training school licence expires. Reminder that all requirements must be met in order to renew your driver training school licence.
Requirements
To renew a driver training school licence, you must submit the following to the MELT and Licensing Standards (MLS) unit:
- a completed Driver Training School Licence Application form
- the Driver Training Records Report must be completed for the preceding year(s)
- a signed Driver Training Code of Conduct and Ethics
- an updated Record of Licensed Instructors
- an updated Record of Driver Training Vehicles
- an updated list of all current owners/directors
- a copy of annual filing
- a current and signed copy of the Surety Bond or a bond continuation certificate
- a Surety Bond is not applicable to school boards, government agencies, or organizations that provide training for no compensation.
- a receipt for the $175 licence renewal fee of (if applicable) from any Alberta registry agent

A cancelled or suspended Driver Training School licence cannot be renewed. A Driver Training School licence will not be issued or renewed if there are outstanding fines or account balances.
