As a result of significant concerns regarding children’s safety, Jobs, Economy and Trade has put Little Stars Montessori Early Learning Center on a probationary licence and temporarily removed their ability to care for infants. The licence will expire on June 12, 2025. Child Care Licensing is closely monitoring the program.
The temporary removal of the program’s ability to care for infants will affect seven children. The program is required to notify affected parents.

Probationary licences
The vast majority of child-care providers and educators in Alberta are committed to the safety and well-being of the children in their care.
If a licenced child-care program is unable to meet the standards set out by Alberta’s government, they can be subject to enforcement action, including suspension of their licence and probation. Through continued monitoring, further enforcement up to and including cancellation of a licence can occur if the level of risk continues or escalates.
If the licenced child-care program is unable to return to compliance during the probationary period, their suspended licence expires. Cancellation is the last resort with compliance being the goal.
