“Every year on Nov. 11, Canadians pause to honour the immense sacrifices made by the brave men and women who have served our country in times of war, military conflict and peace. It is a solemn day of reflection, gratitude and remembrance.
"The freedoms and rights we cherish so deeply as Albertans and Canadians have been safeguarded by the courageous actions of all who have worn, and continue to wear, the uniform. From the trenches of the World Wars to more recent peacekeeping missions and conflicts, Canada’s soldiers, sailors and aviators have answered the call to protect our values and way of life, often at great personal cost.
"Today, we remember not just the military battles won, but the personal battles still being fought by those who returned home. We honour the veterans who carry these invisible wounds of service and we stand with the families who supported them through every challenge.
"I encourage all Albertans to join me in a moment of silent reflection, to express our profound appreciation for our veterans' selfless dedication and to rededicate ourselves to the preservation of the rights and freedoms they fought to defend.
“Lest we forget."
