Applications are now open for Alberta-based non-profit organizations and municipalities to access $720,000 in restorative justice funding. This grant supports initiatives aimed at resolving disputes outside of the formal court system, resulting in meaningful resolutions and community integration. Restorative justice promotes accountability, healing and reconciliation by encouraging everyone involved in a crime to collaboratively discuss the impacts of the crime and take steps to repair the harm caused.
“Restorative justice is a valuable part of our justice system. It provides opportunities for those who have been harmed and those who have caused harm to be active participants in their journey toward justice, accountability and reconciliation. The Alberta Restorative Justice Grants will empower communities to develop and implement programs that bring positive outcomes for everyone involved.”
Eligible applicants including community-based coalitions, registered non-profits, Indigenous communities, youth justice committees and municipalities can apply for individual grants up to $50,000.
Applications are open until Dec. 6.
