With the province’s competitive, energy-only electricity market and business-friendly environment, Alberta is a destination of choice for investors, a hub of innovation and a province of opportunity. Minister Neudorf will be bringing this message south of the border, alongside Parliamentary Secretary for Affordability and Utilities Chantelle de Jonge and Parliamentary Secretary for Economic Corridor Development Shane Getson, as they promote the province’s energy sector to industry leaders and partners.

Minister Nathan Neudorf will first travel to Austin, Texas to meet with representatives from the state’s utilities market to discuss common challenges, solutions and technological developments within their jurisdictions. Following this, the minister and his colleagues will travel to Tulsa, Oklahoma for the Energy Council’s 2024 Annual Meeting. This latest gathering of elected legislators from Alberta, Saskatchewan and 14 energy-producing states will provide an opportunity to promote the reliability, affordability and safety of Alberta’s energy products, as well as the importance of the province’s energy sector to North American and global energy security.

“This is an excellent opportunity to connect with key players in Texas’ energy market to discuss common challenges and solutions as we continue to modernize Alberta’s electrical system. I am also looking forward to attending the Energy Council’s 2024 Annual Meeting to reinforce Alberta’s role as a leader in responsible energy development.”

Nathan Neudorf, Minister of Affordability and Utilities

“Our province is a leader in responsible energy development. I am excited to have the opportunity to promote Alberta energy and learn from other jurisdictions.”

Additionally, Parliamentary Secretary Shane Getson will be working to streamline economic corridors between Alberta, the U.S. and Mexico as a pathway to maintain and grow trade at the Ports to Plains Alliance 2024 Annual Conference in Dickinson, North Dakota.

“Alberta relies on the free flow of trade and investment for its economic prosperity. That is why working with our partners to reduce barriers and bring transparency and consistency to trade across this important region is so important. I am excited to engage with U.S. legislators and officials so we can ensure Alberta’s industries have access to the market opportunities they need to thrive – broadening our commercial ties with certainty and forging bonds with job creators across the continent.”
