“The Art Gallery of Alberta is an important cultural institution located in the heart of Alberta’s capital city. On August 18, this highly treasured art gallery celebrates its 100th anniversary, and our government wants to congratulate the Art Gallery of Alberta on this momentous occasion.
“For 100 years, the Art Gallery of Alberta has provided Albertans and visitors with opportunities to engage with art and experience Alberta’s culture first-hand. The gallery has ensured that Albertans have had access to art, while supporting the economy and helping revitalize Edmonton’s downtown core.
“To recognize this anniversary, Alberta’s government declared today, August 18, 2024, as Art Gallery of Alberta Day.
“Art plays an important role in everyone’s lives; it increases the quality of life and exposes us to new ideas.
“I encourage all Albertans to help mark this significant milestone by planning a visit to the Art Gallery of Alberta to discover the art, exhibits and programming they have to offer.”
Madame Tanya Fir, ministre des Arts, de la Culture et de la Condition féminine, a fait la déclaration suivante à l’occasion de la Journée de l’Art Gallery of Alberta :
« L'Art Gallery of Alberta est une institution culturelle d’importance située au cœur de la capitale albertaine. Le 18 août, cette galerie d'art très prisée célèbrera son 100e anniversaire, et notre gouvernement tient à la féliciter de ce jalon mémorable.
« Depuis un siècle, l'Art Gallery of Alberta offre à la population et aux visiteurs de la province la possibilité de s’intéresser à l'art et de découvrir la culture albertaine. La galerie veille à ce que les Albertaines et les Albertains puissent apprécier l'art, tout en soutenant l'économie et en contribuant à la revitalisation du centre-ville d'Edmonton.
« Pour souligner cet anniversaire, le gouvernement de l'Alberta a déclaré aujourd'hui, le 18 août 2024, la première Journée annuelle de l’Art Gallery of Alberta.
« L'art joue un rôle important dans nos vies; il en améliore la qualité et nous expose à de nouvelles idées.
« J'encourage tous les Albertains et les Albertaines à marquer ce jalon important en planifiant une visite à l'Art Gallery of Alberta, pour y découvrir les œuvres d'art, les expositions et les activités qu'elle propose.
