On Aug. 25, 2018, pursuant to Sec. 46.1 of the Police Act, ASIRT was directed to investigate the use of force by the RCMP on the Paul Band First Nation. ASIRT’s investigation is now complete.

On Nov. 21 and 22, 2019, ASIRT was directed to investigate the use of force by the Lethbridge Police Service resulting in bodily harm to two people.

ASIRT’s mandate is to effectively, independently and objectively investigate incidents involving Alberta’s police that have resulted in serious injury or death to any person, as well as serious or sensitive allegations of police misconduct.
