Recommended dispersion models

Recommended air dispersion models to predict ground level concentration of pollutants.

We recommend using the following models to predict ground level concentration of pollutants.

For specific details on dispersion modelling, see the Air Quality Modelling guideline.

All recommended models are approved by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA):

Analysis Recommended Models
Screening AERSCREEN - Uses worst-case meteorological data
Refined Assessment AERMOD-PRIME -This is a multi-source steady-state plume model.
CALPUFF - This is a multi-layer, multi-species, non-steady-state puff dispersion model that can simulate the effects of time- and space-varying meteorological conditions.
