For many of Edmonton’s most vulnerable citizens, the volunteers of Reach Edmonton are a critical link to the necessities of life. This dedicated group of more than 50 volunteers exemplifies the spirit of service and compassion – demonstrating an unwavering commitment to supporting, not just Reach initiatives, but also the broader community.
Volunteers dedicate their time and efforts to not only preparing, but also co-ordinating, donation drives to allow the distribution of hot meals to unhoused community members. Other members of the volunteer team have stepped up to provide translation services to partner organizations and community groups to communicate better with those they serve in the city’s newcomer communities. Volunteers work to organize and disseminate donations, while others host tax clinics for low-income families, assist with community events and participate in neighborhood clean-up initiatives.
It is Reach Edmonton volunteers who are helping to understand and address some of the root causes of societal issues by hosting wellness sessions and supporting research efforts.
By reaching out to those in need and helping to build a more compassionate, caring community, the volunteers of Reach Edmonton are worthy recipients of Northern Lights Volunteer Recognition honours.
