Biography
Muhammad Yaseen was sworn in as the Minister of Immigration and Multiculturalism on June 9, 2023. He previously served as the Parliamentary Secretary for Community Outreach and the Associate Minister of Immigration and Multiculturalism.
Prior to his service as an elected official, Mr. Yaseen was an active member of his community, volunteering with the Canadian Red Cross and the Pakistan Canada Association for many years. He has also contributed his time to Junior Achievement, the United Way, the Mustard Seed, MOSAIC Volunteers, and the Calgary Food Bank.
Mr. Yaseen holds a Bachelor of Science in petroleum engineering from the University of Wyoming, a master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Calgary and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. He is a professional engineer and is a member of APEGA, the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta.
He enjoys reading, walking, and volunteering, and speaks English, Urdu and Punjabi.
Muhammad Yaseen was first elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Calgary-North on April 16, 2019 and was re-elected on May 29, 2023.
