Service description: Home Visitation provides in-home parenting education and family support services to expectant parents and those with children newborn to 6 years of age. The focus of these visits may include working with the family’s strengths, values, and goals to build on parenting skills and child development knowledge, while supporting positive parent-child interaction and other aspects of positive family functioning

Service description: Parenting Programs, support groups and workshops, as well as parent/child groups aimed to increase knowledge of parenting and positive parenting strategies to increase positive interactions between caregivers and children and youth.

Service description: The wahkomiwew (being connected to people) works with families, children and youth to support their resiliency and wellbeing where they: • Intensive support for families dealing with issues such as addictions, mental health, involvement with Children’s Services, housing • One to one support and mentoring for youth ages 14-18 • Provide opportunities for connections to ceremony and traditional teachings

Service description: The Centre for Young Parents is a local non-profit and registered charity that supports pregnant and parenting young families (under 20 at the time of pregnancy and until the child reaches age 6) in Grande Prairie and the surrounding area. Centre for Young Parents empowers young parents by providing information and support to: • Facilitate judgement free decision-making regarding choices on pregnancy and parenting • Offer multi-level prenatal and postnatal care options • Maximize opportunities for learning, education or training • Gain knowledge of and access to community resources • Promote and strengthen healthy family connections • Encourage the development of individual strengths and self-determination

Service description: Family Connect - Family Supports program is an early intervention program that provides support to families with children aged 7 to 18 in the City of Grande Prairie and surrounding rural communities. Parents are supported to create a nurturing and safe family environment, build resiliency within themselves and their children, build new social connections and learn about positive parenting and child development. The goal is empowering parents to raise resilient children who are healthy, safe, and secure.
