K to 12 Education provincial licensing

Publicly funded education authorities can learn about provincial licensing.

Provincial licensing

PCM Canada has been selected as the provincial reseller for the Provincial Microsoft Licensing (PML) agreement from June 1, 2019 to May 31, 2020. This one-year agreement will continue to be managed by Alberta Education and will include the M365 A3 Suite and Office 365 A3 enrolment options. There will be a slight increase in cost due to Microsoft’s business model for academia moving from a Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) approach to an Education Qualified User (EQU) method of counting users.

The one-year agreement will continue to provide volume discounts for participants and access to value-added programs that are only available through a provincial licence. School authority participants will be able to access an opt-in/user pay model and have the flexibility to select tools based on their needs and contexts.

If a school authority or school is no longer interested in participating in the PML agreement after the existing agreement expires, they will need to negotiate their own separate licensing agreement or remove the Microsoft software.
