Heritage conservation advisers

Owners of designated historic resources can get help with conservation and rehabilitation of their properties.

Advisory Services

A heritage conservation adviser ensures the historical integrity of your building is not compromised. They also provide necessary expertise and approval on your conservation project.

Changes to historic resources

The Historical Resources Act requires owners of provincially designated historic resources to notify the Minister of Arts, Culture and Status of Women of any proposed changes to the property.

All conservation work must follow the Standards and Guidelines for the Conservation of Historic Places in Canada.

For information on how heritage conservation advisers support the designation program and the grant program for designated properties, read Protecting Alberta’s Historic Places.
