Community Adult Learning Program

Introduction

Alberta funds The Community Adult Learning Program (CALP) to support organizations that offer part-time, non-formal learning opportunities that are close to where you live. CALP programs support literacy and numeracy improvement or the improvement of language, basic digital skills, English Language Learning and skills for learning

Reading and writing are important, but literacy is about your ability to use those skills to help improve your life.

You need literacy skills to:

  • get and use information effectively
  • make informed choices about:
    • work
    • health care
    • parenting
    • household finances
    • voting

Part-time classes can help you improve your literacy or other learning skills.
