Criminal prosecutions – Electronic disclosure

This online service allows defence counsel to request and receive disclosure documents from select Crown offices across the province.

Electronic disclosure locations

The Electronic Disclosure (e-Disclosure) service is available from the following Alberta Crown Prosecutor Service offices:

  • Calgary
  • Calgary Rural and Regional Response Office
  • Edmonton
  • Edmonton Rural and Regional Response Office
  • Fort McMurray
  • Fort Saskatchewan
  • Grande Prairie
  • Hinton
  • Lethbridge
  • Medicine Hat
  • Peace River
  • Red Deer
  • Slave Lake
  • St. Paul
  • Wetaskiwin

Security

The e-Disclosure service is protected by a 2-factor authentication system that requires users to enter both a password and a PIN.

Users are expected to strictly maintain the confidentiality of their credentials.

Register for e-Disclosure

To do this, follow the steps that best represent your role:

Defence counsel

  1. Fill out the Application for Access to e-Disclosure Service form.
  2. Submit your form for verification in person to any Crown office in Alberta along with your bar card.
  3. After the Crown office verifies your form, it will initiate the request to have the account created.

Out-of-province lawyer

  1. Fill out the Application for Access to e-Disclosure Service form.
  2. Get your completed form notarized by a notary public.
  3. Submit the form to the Crown office associated with the file.

Self-represented litigant

Contact your nearest Crown office.

Student legal services

Student legal services accounts need to be renewed annually. They expire every June 30th.

  1. Fill out the Student Legal Services Application for Access to e-Disclosure Service form.
  2. Submit your form for verification to any Crown office in Alberta along with your bar card.
  3. After the Crown office verifies your form, it will initiate the request to have the account created.

After you apply

Your application will be processed within 5 to 7 business days.

Request disclosure documents

Once you have registered for e-Disclosure, request your disclosure documents by following these steps:

  1. Have your phone ready, as you’ll receive a call requiring you to enter your PIN.
  2. Go to the e-Disclosure website.
  3. Enter your username and password.
  4. Click the Sign In button.
  5. Answer your phone and enter your PIN.
  6. Click the Disclosure button.
  7. Enter your username and password.
  8. Click the Accept button on the Acknowledge page.
  9. Enter the appropriate docket number in the Docket Number box.
  10. Click the Request button.
  11. Wait for the Request Information window to appear.

Receive disclosure documents

When your disclosure documents are ready for you to retrieve, you will receive an email containing an access link. To access the documents, follow these steps:

  1. Have your phone ready, as you’ll receive a call requiring you to enter your PIN.
  2. Click the access link in your email, which opens the e-Disclosure website.
  3. Enter your username and password.
  4. Click the Log In button.
  5. Answer your phone and enter your PIN.
  6. Click the Disclosure button.
  7. Enter your username and password.
  8. Click the Accept button on the Acknowledge page.
  9. Enter the appropriate docket number in the Docket Number box.
  10. Click the Ready button.
  11. Download your disclosure.
