Overview
The China-Alberta Award for Excellence in Chinese recognizes Alberta students who excel while studying Chinese language and culture.
The award has a value of $500.
Eligibility
Eligible applicants must:
- be a Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident or Protected Person
- be an Alberta resident
- have taken high school Chinese Language and Culture Program 10 and 20 and currently be enrolled in or have completed level 30
- have an average of 80% in all courses
- have a minimum average of 80% in Chinese Language and Culture 10 and 20
- be enrolled in Grade 12
Visa students are not eligible for the China-Alberta Award for Excellence in Chinese.
How to apply

Step 2. Write an essay
The essay should be 2 paragraphs and answer the following questions:
- How will your learning in the Chinese Language and Culture Program apply to your future studies and/or career?
- How have your studies made you a global citizen?
Step 3. Get a letter of recommendation
Your teacher or someone in a similar position should write this letter.
Step 4. Submit the application package
