Carrier intervention and discipline

If a carrier does not follow safety laws, the Alberta government will intervene to ensure public safety.

Overview

We monitor the safety and compliance of commercial bus and truck carriers. The goal is to ensure commercial vehicles on Alberta roadways are operating safely. If a carrier does not follow safety laws, we may intervene with their operations to reduce the risk the carrier poses to the public.

Carrier intervention

We follow guidelines in the Intervention and Discipline Policy. This policy provides better oversight and timely interactions between us and carriers. It also ensures carriers demonstrating non-compliance are approached in a consistent, fair and objective manner.
