Bull trout recovery plan engagement

Albertans shared feedback on a draft bull trout recovery plan.

Overview

We gathered input on a draft plan to protect and support the recovery of bull trout, Alberta’s provincial fish.

Bull trout were once widespread in Alberta, but their populations have declined and stayed low for decades. In 2014, bull trout were listed as Threatened under Alberta’s Wildlife Act.

The recovery plan ranks threats to bull trout recovery, helping target conservation efforts where they are most needed in local watersheds.

The plan was developed and reviewed over 4 years with input from an advisory committee made up of conservation, recreation and industry representatives.
