Across the province, volunteers are creating healthier, happier, and more connected communities through the programs they support. They are the backbone of sport clubs, recreational leagues, youth programs, and more. They organize events, manage facilities, and coordinate logistics to ensure that all Albertans can enjoy the benefits of physical activity. Their efforts create safe and welcoming environments that break down barriers, teach teamwork and build confidence. From the playground to the podium, volunteers make sport happen.
In the tourism sector, volunteers serve as ambassadors, guides, and stewards of the places they love. Their enthusiasm and hospitality enrich the lives of locals and visitors alike. Whether helping put on a major sporting event or lending a hand at one of our many festivals, volunteers contribute to the cultural vibrancy and economic vitality of their communities.
Most everyone can remember a volunteer that made a lasting impact on their lives – someone who ignited their passion for sport and encouraged them to achieve their goals, or who embodied the spirit of community and dedicated themselves to improving the lives of those around them. Volunteers across the tourism and sport sector make Alberta a great place to live, visit, and play.
Thank you for all that you do, and happy National Volunteer Week!
