Consumer Protection Act – Appeal board decisions

Administrative decisions, order or licensing refusals, cancellations or suspensions may be appealed to the Minister.

Overview

Where a business or person has been issued an administrative decision, order or licensing refusal, cancellation or suspension under the Consumer Protection Act, Funeral Services Act or Cemeteries Act, the business or person may appeal the decision to the Minister within 30 days after being notified in writing of the decision or order.

The Minister will appoint an appeal board to hear the appeal and the appeal board can issue a decision that may confirm, vary or quash the decision or order that is being appealed. Appeal decisions are made public by the Director of Fair Trading.
