“Today, Muslims around the world commemorate the end of the holy month of Ramadan by celebrating Eid al-Fitr. After a month of fasting, many Albertan Muslims are marking this important religious holiday by waking early, participating in special morning prayers, and breaking their month-long fasts with friends and family.

“Eid is a celebration of Muslims’ devotion to their faith, emphasizing love and compassion for the community. Acts of generosity and charity are an important part of Eid al-Fitr, and a pillar of the Muslim faith.

“With more than 200,000 Muslims in Alberta, Eid al-Fitr is an opportunity to recognize the important contributions of Muslim Albertans to our province and how these contributions enrich our communities.

“We wish all those celebrating this important day a blessed and joyous Eid al-Fitr. Eid Mubarak!”
