On May 12, 2022, ASIRT was directed to investigate an allegation of assault involving an RCMP officer on May 11, 2022.

On Feb.14, 2023, ASIRT was directed to investigate a fatal officer-shooting involving an officer with the Calgary Police Service.

ASIRT’s mandate is to effectively, independently and objectively investigate incidents involving Alberta’s police that have resulted in serious injury or death to any person, as well as serious or sensitive allegations of police misconduct.
