“When Albertans and Canadians across the country wear pink, we take a stand against bullying and show those who have experienced bullying they are not alone.

“Pink Shirt Day is dedicated to raising awareness about bullying and promoting kindness, empathy and respect in our communities. It is a reminder that each person makes a difference by choosing to be kind and respectful in their daily lives.

Searle Turton, Minister of Children and Family Services

“All students deserve to feel safe, welcome and respected in school. Alberta Education recognizes that preventing bullying is a shared responsibility – one that includes parents, students, teachers and the wider community. On Pink Shirt Day, we encourage all Albertans to wear pink to honour the courageous students who first started this movement to stand up against bullying in 2007. The initiative shown by those students serves as a reminder that bullying has no place in schools – or anywhere else – and that each of us can drive positive change.

“By wearing pink, we send a clear message of unity against all forms of bullying. This simple act fosters inclusive environments where everyone feels safe and valued. Whether in the classroom or our broader communities, our actions matter. Let’s continue to choose kindness and ensure that every individual feels respected, supported and included.”

Demetrios Nicolaides, Minister of Education
