“Today, on International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we celebrate the incredible contributions of individuals with disabilities across Alberta.
“This day serves as a reminder of the importance of creating inclusive communities where everyone has access to opportunities and resources. Alberta’s government remains committed to removing barriers and empowering those with disabilities to achieve their goals. We continue to implement initiatives such as the updated accessibility design guide to help make public buildings and private homes safer and more accessible.
“We are also committed to creating more opportunities for people with disabilities to enhance their skills so they can find meaningful employment. By developing and fostering partnerships with our community partners across the province, we continue to ensure programs and services are accessible. This includes an investment of $27 million towards employment services in 2024-25.
“Alberta is home to a diverse and resilient population and people with disabilities make immeasurable contributions to our province every day. As Minister of Seniors, Community and Social Services, I am committed to listening to the voices of persons with disabilities and building a stronger future together. We will continue to ensure that people with disabilities across Alberta are empowered to live with dignity and respect.”
