Telling Alberta’s story in western U.S.

While in Portland, the MLAs will meet with lawmakers, government leaders, industry representatives and other delegates from 13 U.S. states at the CSG West 77th annual meeting.

This cross-border meeting will provide a platform to discuss areas of importance to the province such as energy and the environment, investment, agriculture, transportation and border policies that promote the efficient movement of people and goods.

We are committed to reinforcing Alberta’s ties in the region and solidifying Alberta’s role as a leader and partner in energy security through the development of economic corridors.”

CSG West is a regional, multilateral forum comprised of the following member states: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. Alberta, British Columbia and the U.S. territories of Guam, American Samoa and the Northern Mariana Islands are associate members.

Following participation in the CSG West annual meeting, MLA Hunter will travel in his role as parliamentary secretary for Agrifood Development to Sacramento, California and Boise, Idaho from July 13-19. Parliamentary secretary Hunter will meet with government officials to exchange best practices on enhancing irrigation systems to grow the agricultural sector for the future, and with private sector leaders to promote Alberta as a world-class destination for agri-food investment.

This is an opportunity to promote Alberta’s advantages, share insights with our partners in the U.S., and reinforce vital links that help build our economies and feed the world.”
