“On the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia, we stand united in our commitment to build a province that celebrates the worth of everyone and rejects all forms of discrimination.
“By standing in solidarity with those impacted by homophobia, transphobia and biphobia, we not only support those we know and care for, but also uphold the values of compassion, respect and understanding that define us as a province and as a people.
“Standing against discrimination also means uplifting outstanding individuals, which is why our government also celebrates the champions of the 2SLGBTQQIA+ community. In 2020, we added a category to the Stars of Alberta Volunteer Awards program that specifically recognizes incredible Albertans who are fighting against homophobia, transphobia, biphobia and any forms of discrimination.
“In addition, we have invested more than $290,000 in support of 2SLGBTQQIA+ initiatives in the last two years, including substantial grants to the Pride Calgary Planning Committee, Calgary Outlink, the Dinner Optimist Club and several others.
“There is no place for hate or intolerance in our province. Alberta’s government stands with 2SLGBTQQIA+ Albertans and will continue to be an ally.”
La ministre des Arts, de la Culture et de la Condition féminine, Tanya Fir, a fait la déclaration suivante à l’occasion de la Journée internationale contre l’homophobie, la transphobie et la biphobie :
« À l’occasion de la Journée internationale contre l’homophobie, la transphobie et la biphobie, nous sommes unies dans notre engagement à bâtir une province qui célèbre la valeur de toutes les personnes et qui rejette toutes les formes de discrimination.
« En étant solidaires avec les victimes de l’homophobie, de la transphobie et de la biphobie, non seulement nous soutenons les personnes que nous connaissons et aimons, mais nous défendons aussi les valeurs de la compassion, du respect et de la tolérance qui nous définissent en tant que province et en tant que population.
« Lutter contre la discrimination signifie également mettre en lumière des personnes exceptionnelles. C’est la raison pour laquelle notre gouvernement célèbre les champions et les championnes de la communauté 2ELGBTQQIA+. En 2020, nous avons ajouté une catégorie au programme des prix des bénévoles Stars of Alberta pour reconnaître spécifiquement les contributions incroyables des Albertains et des Albertaines qui combattent l’homophobie, la transphobie, la biphobie, et toutes les autres formes de discrimination.
« En outre, nous avons investi plus de 290 000 $ pour appuyer des initiatives 2ELGBTQQIA+ au cours des deux dernières années, notamment sous la forme de subventions importantes accordées au comité de planification de Pride Calgary, à Calgary Outlink, au Dinner Optimist Club, ainsi qu’à plusieurs autres organismes.
