Speed will be reduced to 50 kilometres per hour between the afternoons of July 4 and July 5. The highway will be closed for about 30 minutes on the morning of July 5 to safely remove the material. Traffic control will be in place while the work is completed.

Material from the hill, which is north of Rycroft and south of Fairview, has been steadily falling since late June. To ensure the safety of the highway, Alberta Transportation will use seismic equipment to remove the debris. This preventative measure will stop further material from falling onto the highway. The work should be completed in less than a day.
