“As the world recognizes International Workers’ Day (May Day), we’re proud to celebrate the gains of working people. There remains much work to do to make sure each and every Albertan is treated fairly and returns home safely at the end of the day, but today, thanks to the advocacy of hard-working Albertans, our workplaces are safer and fairer.

“We’re working to make life better for all Albertans. That’s why we’re helping our lowest-paid workers out with an increased minimum wage. It’s why we updated Alberta’s labour laws for the first time in 30 years to make workplaces safer and more family friendly. New employment and training supports are helping more Albertans build great careers, and paid workers on farms and ranches finally have the same protections as the rest of Alberta’s workforce.

“Thanks to the continued recovery of our economy, more and more Albertans are working every day. As we continue to create jobs and help make life better for working families, I wish all Albertans a very safe and happy May Day.”
