Minister McLean will join Status of Women Canada Minister Maryam Monsef and the Canadian delegation to the 62nd session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women, an annual summit dedicated to promoting gender equality and empowering women.

This year’s session has a special focus on empowering rural women and girls. Minister McLean met with Alberta community groups serving rural women, and will amplify their voices on the global stage while discussing ways to accelerate action for a gender-equal province.

“Alberta is proud to champion women’s equality. While our province has much to share, it’s also crucial that we learn from successes in other parts of the world to make life better for women and girls, here at home.”

Stephanie McLean, Minister of Status of Women

The estimated cost of travel, accommodations and meals for Minister McLean and one political staff member is $4,856.
