“Moments after sunset yesterday, Jewish families worldwide began a 25-hour fast and special prayer services for Yom Kippur, the holiest of Jewish holidays.

“Yom Kippur marks the end of the 10 Days of Awe, which start on Rosh Hashanah. It’s a time for followers of Judaism to reflect on the last year and to reconcile with those they have wronged.

“For over a century, Jewish families have helped build the Alberta we know today, where we welcome diversity and embrace all faiths and traditions equally and openly.

“I wish an easy fast and a blessed Yom Kippur to the thousands of Albertans observing this holiday across the province. G’mar Tov.”
