Showcasing Alberta’s climate leadership in NYC

Minister Phillips is representing Alberta at Climate Week NYC 2017, an annual summit that brings together international leaders from business, government and civil society. The event runs from Sept. 18-24. Minister Phillips will attend the conference Sept. 19-20.

“Alberta has a lot to be proud of when it comes to taking action on climate change. As our province lowers emissions, creates jobs and diversifies the economy, it is crucial we learn from other jurisdictions about new ways to make life better for Albertans.”

While in New York, the Alberta delegation will meet representatives from federal, provincial, state and local governments and key stakeholders from the investment and climate communities. They will also participate in sessions and events.

Many of these meetings will discuss how local governments can contribute to global efforts to address climate change and how investments in innovation and clean energy can bolster economic opportunity.

The estimated cost of the trip for Minister Phillips, one political staff and two department staff is approximately $15,000.
