Communities in northwest central Alberta will benefit from $64,875 in funding through the first CARES intake.

Spruce Grove – St. Albert MLA Trevor Horne made the announcement on behalf of Economic Development and Trade Minister Deron Bilous.

“Every region of Alberta brings multiple strengths to our way of life, whether in energy, agriculture, forestry, mining, tourism or  other areas. This funding will help communities with common interests tackle economic development projects that they might not be able to individually. Through these projects, local leaders are working together to grow and diversify our economy and make life better for Alberta families.”

Deron Bilous, Minister of Economic Development and Trade

The funding includes:

  • $50,000 to the City of Spruce Grove for its Spruce Grove City Centre Area Redevelopment Plan
  • $14,875 to the Alexander First Nation for its Alexander First Nation Training Facility and Fire Hall

The successful projects will attract investment and stimulate economic growth, provide a flexible regulatory framework for sustainable regional economic growth and set the stage for new infrastructure that will support neighbouring communities and offer valuable training opportunities.

“Alberta’s smaller cities are the economic and entrepreneurial engines of our economy. By investing in projects like the Spruce Grove City Centre Redevelopment Plan, we ensure that the heart of those engines continue to make smaller cities great places to live, invest and do business. Investments like the Alexander First Nation Training Facility and Fire Hall support innovation and economic participation for families living on reserve.”

Trevor Horne, MLA for Spruce Grove – St. Albert
